How we
met...
Internet.
We wanted to
share our story because...
I
think it is a really neat idea for other brides to be able to view your
storey and your wedding planning process.
How
he proposed...
We were in Niagara Falls for Aaron's birthday.
On our last night there he got us a room with a heart shaped Jacuzzi and
filled it with bubbles and we had champagne and music going. Then we asked
me and I said "we have already talked about this hun, you know I would."
Then he said "no seriously... will you marry me!" and he pulled out a ring
from a Kleenex box.
How we feel about our upcoming married
life ...
I
am super excited!!! I can't wait to start married life with Aaron. The
wedding is just so exciting. I can't wait to see it all put together on the
day.
Our dream wedding could be described as ...
All
of our family and friends coming together to celebrate our love. Everything
running smoothly and everyone having a good time!
Our colour/theme:
blue/black/pink.
planning
So far (by July
19th, 2006) we've planned...
We
have all the important things planned so far. I have my dress picked out and
on order. The guys already have their outfits picked and have been fitted.
We just bought the pattern for the bridesmaids dresses and are in the midst
of having them fitted. We have the hall and reception booked. DJ booked.
Florist booked. The only big thing we are missing so far is the
photographer.
Our biggest concern right now is...
Money. We
are worried we are going to be short and have to cut things out. Fingers
crossed that we won't have to.

How we're feeling...
For the most part I am loving wedding planning.
I could definitely do this as a career! I think FH and I have proved to
everyone that we are more capable of handling things on our own and being
more responsible. Time seems to be moving so slowly. I am so excited about
the wedding that it seems like it's still forever away, but in reality it is
only 1 year away. Aaron has been absolutely amazing with everything so far.
He has been helpful with everything. If I get stressed out he takes things
into his own hands and tries to take the stress off me. He seems to be
really enjoying the planning as well. He puts so much input into everything
and gives tons of ideas. Without him I would be lost! Words can't describe
how much I love him and how happy I am knowing I am going to spend the rest
of my life with him.
The groom surprised me by...
Saying I
can have pink in the BM dresses and pink flowers. He knows how much I like
pink and at first was against any pink in the wedding but now that we have
changed the tux colors he suggested that I use pink and I can have my pink
gerbera daisies! Who knows if I will do that though.
What's going on with my
bridal party...
My bridal
party so far has been amazing. We have hit a few snags and had to remove 2
people from the party but you gotta do what you gotta do! My MOH and I went
and picked up the BM dresses the other day. Super exciting! The guys went
and picked out their tuxes, vests, ties and did their fittings last week.
Our wedding party also went and booked our Stag 'n Doe and are in full swing
in planning everything.
What happened to this week
that was frustrating...
The
swatch for the guys' vests came in and wasn't the color that we had expected
it to be. We wanted a nice wine red and this was burgundy but more towards
the purple side. We have decided to completely go away from the red because
the store didn't have the red we are looking for and are now going with
royal blue. We also ran into a few money situations with the parents. FH's
parents had said they were going to contribute the same amount as my parents
were but now have decided not to. We planned our wedding around the budget
we were given and now we are $2000 short. We are definitely grateful and
lucky that our parents are contributing money towards our wedding but we
also based our budget on the numbers we were told we were going to have.
It's turned into a huge dilemma and FH's parents and FH are going to be
having a dinner meeting to discuss how we will solve this issue.
What happened to this week
that was awesome!...
I got my
wedding dress!!!! Well I picked it! and put the deposit down on it. I am
super excited. I didn't want to take it off.
Planning pet
peeves...
Vendors not replying to emails or phone calls.
Drives me nuts!
My budgeting
issues this week/day/month...
This month
has been the budget issue with our families. Things are starting to look a
bit better with that situation so we are hoping it can be resolved soon so
we know what we are working with and if we have to cut things back.
And the hunt
continues...
We am
still in the midst of finding a photographer. We are looking for someone who
does amazing work but is also within our budget.
Advice for
other Guelph brides...
Wedding
planning has definitely been great for mine and Aaron's relationship. He has
put us through lots of tests but we have come out on top of things each time
and stronger than ever.
Stay tuned for more
of
Laura & Aaron's
wedding
