Master
cake decorator brings hard work, style & taste together at C.E.S.
designs
Using recipes made entirely from scratch for cakes that employ elegant
designs, Colleen Stafford, Owner of C.E.S. designs, proves she is focused
on quality, taste, beauty, and most of all, her brides. Colleen wants to be sure that
each cake is
as perfect as can be, from the first
glimpse to the last bite. Your
wedding cake isn’t just about how it looks.
How the cake tastes is just as much of a focus at C.E.S. designs.
"I
want brides to be proud of their cakes," says Colleen.
We sat down with this artistic woman to find out more about what she has
to offer local brides...
Personally speaking...
Colleen has been studying
her craft for the last ten years. Originally a graphic
designer with a love for baking, Colleen began taking the Wilton courses 1, 2
and 3. She found that the art of cake design gave her a new way to satisfy her
creativity. This happily married woman of thirty-nine years then attended McCall’s School in Toronto
for an intensive training course in cake decorating. Six years
ago, C.E.S. designs opened its doors with this self-described perfectionist at
the helm.
Even though
she already has her Masters Diploma in cake decorating, Colleen
finds herself a habitual student...

Post subject: What to do with a baby
for the wedding
"Okay so we are getting
married next spring. I am still in planning stages but it is coming
along great. The only thing is I have a 5 month old daughter who
will 1 shortly after we get married. It's not she's the problem
because she was heaven sent to us. What do i do with her for the
ceremony & reception. My parents aren't from this area they are
flying in the day before. Besides I am sure they don't want to
babysit during their daughter's wedding. I need some good advice
because I really want our daughter to be there not with some
babysitter. I have found some ceremonies that the children..."

Post subject: Got more
done!Pics to come soon!Bachelorette Party Saturday!
"Ok...so
I guess the count down begins...I feel like I still have one million
things to do. I just started back at work again last week after a
year of maternity leave, we just moved into our house last week and
now there is only one month left!!!??? I feel like my head is
spinning! We still don't have our internet hooked up at home so I
feel kind of lost as I don't get to check the site here at work
much.
Here is what we have left to do.
-Put together the church programs
-buy ring bearer and flower girl gifts
-finalize all our plans w/ most vendors
-do seating chart after i call people to see if they are coming or
not (rsvp's are still coming in!)
and its funny because I can't even remember what else...but i know
there is a ton of stuff to do!..."

Post subject: I am nuts??? BTS, a
wedding and no income!!!
"So to
give you all a little background I've always wanted to be a teacher
and last spring I didn't get into school...but as they say all
things happen for a reason. The upside to this past year has been
falling in love with FH and I got into teacher's college this year.
Had I got in last year I never would have met him. Now not only am I
going back to school but planning a wedding...YIKES(a good yikes but
yikes none the less)!!!
But it
seems that since I got into school things are just spinning out of
control. As if school and a wedding wasn't stressful enough..."

2006
"September 15, 2006
What a Day!
I got up and did my nails and eyebrows. Went shopping with one of my
bridesmaids for some last minute stuff. Went back to my house and
visited with my grandparents and my godmother and I tied up the
programs.
The Reception Hall called to confirm for the wedding dinner. While
we were talking I wanted to confirm for tonight we would have extra
people at the rehearsal dinner... He didn't have my reservations
written down... ack!..."

"Well...I'm pretty proud of my FH for going the lengths we
went to find stones and design a ring - so I figured I
should post the story. We've been together 7 years now (we
were highschool sweethearts) and we had been talking about
marriage for almost a year. I figured that we were ready to
move to the next 'stage' of our relationship and to be
honest, was thinking it may never happen. For my birthday,
he had took me to a quiet cabin retreat in the Squamish
Valley in B.C. It was perfect. The next day, we went for a
drive along logging roads, and he pulled over at a beautiful
spot where we were surrounded by a panoramic view of
gorgeous mountains! Here is where he presented me with my
'gift'...a gorgeous diamond and sapphire ring and a
beautiful poem where he asked me to marry him! The sapphire
stone was handpicked (over the internet) directly from the
mine in Australia from Aussie Sapphires in the Reddestone
Creek area of New South Wales. The mine is both an ethical
source of stones as well..."

If Men Were In Charge of Planning Weddings...
There would be less "Oh Promise Me" and "Endless Love", and
more "Louie, Louie" and "Mony Mony".
There would be a 'Rehearsal Dinner Kegger Party'.
Bridesmaids would wear matching blue jean cut-offs and
halter tops. They would have NO tan lines and more skin
showing than not.
Tuxes would have team logos on the back and the Nike shoes
would have matching team colors.
June Weddings would be scheduled around basketball
play-offs.
Vows would mention cooking and sex specifically but omit
that "forsaking all others" part.
The couple would leave the ceremony in a souped up '73
Charger or some other Mopar with racing tires and flame
designs on the side of the car. Better yet, a Harley!
Idiots that tried to dance with the Bride (unless they were
really old) would get punched in the head.
Big slobbery dogs would be eligible for the role of Best
Man.
There would be 'Tailgate Receptions'.
Outdoor weddings would be held during sporting events at
half-time or between innings.
Ceremonies would be short and Honeymoons would be long.
Ceremonies and Honeymoons would be inexpensive compared to
the cost of the Bachelor Party. Those strippers and liquor
sure do add up.
Men wouldn't ask...."Well, what do you think, Dear, The
Burgundy or the Wine colored napkins?" They'd just grab
extras from their local pub or tavern.
Favours would be matchbooks and cigars. Better yet, free
drink passes at the local lounge.
The bride's dress would show cleavage, her navel, and be form
fitted to her butt.
Instead of a sit down dinner or a buffet, there would be a
hog roast or buckets of chicken, pizza and plenty of
barbeque.
No one would bother with that 'Veil Routine'. But they would
insist the garter be as high up on her leg as it would go.
The bridal bouquet could be recycled from a previous funeral
or something. |
