re:action sets his sights on bringing a
photojournalists' perspective to wedding photography for local brides
Scott McQuarrie,
Owner and Photographer at re:action photography, was twelve when he got his first camera.
Today he is going into his fifth year of business, having made it his
personal goal to offer Guelph and area brides a new perspective on wedding
photography. "I want to give couples photographs that evoke feelings, emotion,
and memories."
For Scott, the
capturing of these memories, events and people on 'digital film' seems to come
naturally. He admits, "I’ve always been a photographer at heart." Scott's
own father had a lifetime interest in photography and so it was easy for
Scott to carry that same passion throughout his own life.
As a
professional photographer and a recent newlywed, Scott knows the importance
of the detail shots, digital retouching and competitive pricing. We met with
him to find out more. Let us explain...
Personally speaking...
Even though
Scott's father was his first inspiration for photography, it was the Graphic
Design program at London's Fanshawe College that drew him deeper and more
professionally into the craft. As he put himself through the design course,
he found himself electing
for more and more digital photography courses.
After
graduating in 1994, he worked in the graphic design field for twelve years.
But it was after shooting several weddings for close friends that re:action photography
grew and evolved into what it is now...

A
tale of music past...
Originally starting
out working with karaoke, Alan found that he had a bigger interest in the DJ'ing industry
and its power to transform events. Alan formed Star Productions Inc. in 1996, with a focus on the Toronto area.
In 2005, he made it
official by making his DJ'ing a full time career - and hasn't looked back
since. In fact, Star Productions is growing in our direction. Star Productions
extended their services to the K-W, Cambridge, Guelph areas, with Terry Holdershaw
as Manager of this new Southwestern
Ontario branch of the company. Terry originally
started out in the music industry by doing live
sound for bands before working into fundraisers and parties. Using this wide
range of experience at each wedding, Terry says, "We
all get really excited
about weddings."
A professional team effort
Star Productions has
over a half dozen full

My Diary:
in-laws meeting
A&A:
"How did everyone arrange for their parents to meet their FH's
parents? Did they meet as soon as you were engaged, or did you wait
until just before the wedding? And what did you do if one set of
parents is divorced and both are remarried? Did you set up 2
different meetings? FH and I are trying to figure out how to do this
and it's tricky. My parents are divorced and both are remarried. His
parents live in a different city, so a quick..."

Please help - problem!!
Spunky Mom:
"Here is the situation: Our hall has a capacity of 250 people. Our
reception is on April 28th. We sent our invites in January - We put
on the invites just the couples name on the invitation - Mr and Mrs
Smith for example. We invited over 250 people knowing we would get
some "no" replies. I did not plan on inviting everyones children -
My fiance is European and from all of them we are getting back
replies that include all of their kids!! I got one back today for a
couple and their three kids coming! Should I have put on the
invitations "adult event only"??? We are getting married away and
coming back for just a reception from 7pm-1am - not a full on
wedding that day. Now - do I call these people and let them know
that sorry we are not having any kids? My fiance thinks many of them
won't come if they can't bring their kids as they don't have
babysitters - their family just babysits the kids and all the family
is at our wedding. I can't have some kids there but not others? Does
it not have to be kids or no kids and that is it? I can't believe
how stressed I am..."

30 Days and Counting...:
WOW - How did I get here?! (20 DAYS
TO GO!)
CChapman: "Well
Ladies, It is officially the 30 day mark for my wedding! How on
earth did I get here? Honestly - enjoy every second of it, before
you know it, you're 30 days away! So I am feeling pretty excited
actually! I am in a bit of a unique situation....I am away for the 3
weeks beore the wedding, so I have to be "uber-organized" in order
to keep my sanity while I'm away! My work is sending me out west for
a conference from Feb 19th to March 1st. Then I'm home for 3 days,
then back on a plane to Calgary until the day before the wedding! I
know you all think I'm crazy, but I couldn't do anything about it,
and these dates have been planned for months! So anyways - here's
what I have left to do:
-
finish seating chart and organize all seating cards (choice of meal)
- have
final meeting with officiant, choose vows
- have
final dress fitting (YEAH - I LOVE IT!!!)
- have
hair and makeup trial
- have
final meeting with wedding planner
- make
myself BEAUTIFUL!!! (i.e loose that last 5 pounds, get rid of tan-lines,
keep skin moisturized, etc!!)..."

A few of my engaged friends have been raving about this site, so I
decided to check it out for myself. I got engaged in October on top
of the Eiffel tower in Paris to an amazing guy. Most of our major
planning is done, but I have heard this site is a great resource
with some great ladies too
Talk to you soon,
I'm sure, Tara"
