Social
media designed to raise holiday cheer and internet karma
For thousands of Canadians, this
past year's holiday season just didn't feel the same. Everything
from cancelled Christmas parties to threatened job security
created an overall sense of Canadian families holding their
collective breath, waiting to see what would happen - instead of
indulging in the spirit of the season. Darius Bashar, President
and Co-Founder of the innovative social networking website,
Daily Challenge (dailychallenge.org),
says that's why they announced The Goodest Story. Ever.
Contest. In honour of a new year and some good old fashioned
holiday cheer, this post-holiday contest gives every day 'do
gooders' a great reason to look into their lives, share their
experiences and inspire others to do the same. The desired
result is a community united, a lot more reasons to be thankful
for life, friends and family, and of course, many more members
in Daily Challenge.
Daily Challenge was created from
the belief that many people doing small random acts of kindness
on a daily basis can positively impact our communities and
eventually the world. "When you focus on something long enough
it eventually becomes your reality," states Afshin Mousavian,
Co-Founder and CEO of Daily Challenge. "What we are looking to
accomplish with our holiday contest is to redirect the
collective focus to a state of joy and appreciation, rather than
uncertainty and despair." So every day members post, accept, and
pass forward challenges that help make the world a better place
- significantly increasing the karma factor on the Daily
Challenge end of the internet.
Leading
by example, the Daily Challenge website is raising awareness
and money for Nikibasika: The Kasese Children Learning &
Development Project in Uganda. Nikibasika works with 52
children in Kasese who are from families that have been severely
affected by HIV AIDS or civil wars. 100% of all proceeds raised
by corporate donations will go to the children of Nikibasika.
It's an effort that staff at The Ring hope couples and wedding
professionals will support. Nikibasika means "it is possible" in
the Western Ugandan language of Runyankole.
